SRU template added to the description. The fix from Debian 0.9.73-6
(Debian bug #1151414) could be backported to resolute as
0.9.73-5ubuntu0.1.

** Description changed:

+ [ Impact ]
+
+ jack-capture 0.9.73-5 in Ubuntu 26.04 (resolute) was built with all
+ optional features silently disabled. The feature tests in
+ gen_setformat_c.sh and gen_das_config_h.sh (0.9.73 release tarball)
+ use "main(){...}" without a return type, which is an error since
+ GCC 14 (-Wimplicit-int). Every test fails silently, so:
+
+ - "jack_capture --print-formats" prints nothing
+ - "-f ogg" / "-f flac" silently produce uncompressed 32-bit float WAV
+ files with the requested extension (much larger files, wrong format)
+ - "-mp3" and OSC support are unavailable
+
+ This is a regression from Ubuntu 24.04 (0.9.73-4ubuntu1), where all
+ of this works. Users recording with jack_capture get files in the
+ wrong format without any error.
+
+ Fixed in Debian 0.9.73-6 ("Fix checks for libraries and file
+ formats", Debian bug #1151414). Upstream master is also fixed
+ ("int main(void){...}") but no release contains it yet.
+
+ [ Test Plan ]
+
+ 1. Install the proposed jack-capture package.
+ 2. Check dependencies: "apt-cache depends jack-capture" must list
+ liblo7 and libmp3lame0 again.
+ 3. "jack_capture --print-formats" must list formats (wav, aiff,
+ flac, ogg, ...). With the broken package it prints nothing.
+ 4. Record a short file (PipeWire or JACK running):
+ pw-jack jack_capture -d 5 -f ogg test.ogg
+ sndfile-info test.ogg | grep Format
+ The format must be 0x00200060 (OGG/Vorbis), not
+ WAVE_FORMAT_IEEE_FLOAT.
+ 5. "pw-jack jack_capture -d 5 -mp3" must produce an MP3 file instead
+ of "mp3 not supported. liblame was not installed when compiling".
+
+ [ Where problems could occur ]
+
+ The change only affects build-time feature detection. It restores the
+ features that were enabled in 0.9.73-4ubuntu1 (noble), so the
+ resulting binary should behave like the one in the previous LTS. The
+ package gains back runtime dependencies on liblo7 and libmp3lame0.
+ Possible issues would be in the re-enabled code paths (OGG/FLAC
+ writing through libsndfile, MP3 through LAME, OSC through liblo),
+ which are the same code paths shipped and used in noble.

+ Workaround currently used: installing 0.9.73-4ubuntu1 from noble on
+ resolute, which works correctly.

+
  Hello,

I believe there may be a packaging issue with jack_capture in Xubuntu
  26.04.

  System:

  Xubuntu 26.04
  jack_capture 0.9.73-5
  libsndfile 1.2.2-4

I initially noticed that recordings created with jack_capture were much
larger than expected, which led me to investigate the output format
  handling.

  Some observations:

  The command
  jack_capture --print-formats

  produces no output at all.

  When running
  pw-jack jack_capture -f ogg

  I get:

Warning. Could not set higher priority for a SCHED_OTHER process using
setpriority().
Warning, the format "wav" is not supported. Using ogg instead.
Recording to "jack_capture_01.ogg". Press <Return> or <Ctrl-C> to stop.

This message appears inconsistent because I explicitly requested OGG
output, yet the warning refers to WAV not being supported.

The upstream developer of jack_capture suggested that an empty output from
  jack_capture --print-formats

could indicate that something went wrong during compilation or
packaging, possibly involving format detection or libsndfile
  integration.

I am reporting this because the behavior appears abnormal and may
indicate a packaging or build issue in the Ubuntu/Xubuntu package.

Please let me know if additional diagnostic information would be useful.

  Thank you.
