Public bug reported:

I am using Ubuntu MATE 26.04 with Simple Scan version 48.1-0ubuntu3 and
an Epson Perfection V330 Photo scanner (USB ID 04b8:0142).

**Expected behaviour**

After scanning a document, Simple Scan should display the scanned image
in its document window.

**Actual behaviour**

The scanner starts scanning. The carriage moves across the glass and
returns to its end position, but the scanned image does not appear in
the Simple Scan window.

**Tests performed**

1. The scanner is detected by USB.
2. Running `scanimage --format=tiff > ~/epson-kontrollscan.tiff` successfully
produces a TIFF image, which opens and displays correctly.
3. XSane successfully scans the same scanner and creates
`~/Schreibtisch/out.pnm`. This image also opens and displays correctly.
4. Simple Scan does not display the scanned image.
5. The installed Simple Scan version is `48.1-0ubuntu3`. The configured Ubuntu
package sources do not offer a newer version.

These tests indicate that the scanner, USB connection and SANE scanning
backend are functional. The problem appears to be specific to Simple
Scan or its integration with the desktop environment.

A potentially related report is Ubuntu bug #2150707:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2150707

That report concerns missing scan previews with Simple Scan 48.1 on
Ubuntu 26.04 when scanning multiple pages through an automatic document
feeder. My issue differs because I use a flatbed scanner and perform a
single-page scan.

Could you please investigate why Simple Scan does not display the scan
result in this configuration?
