Final update: - Kernel: both patches are applied to sound/for-7.4 and should reach mainline in the next merge window (commits 45c2b3c936c7 and ea83a1103b18). Once the Ubuntu kernel rebases on 7.4, audio on this machine works out of the box; carrying them as SAUCE patches in the meantime would help users of this model. - Userspace: the alsa-ucm-conf device files are merged upstream as well (commits 9cf3e65 / ed3cfff / 83b6d1d).
