I can confirm this issue on a Lenovo Legion 7 16ITHg6 with a Realtek ALC287 codec and two Cirrus Logic CS35L41 amplifiers, running Linux Mint (Ubuntu 24.04-based).
Working kernel: 7.0.0-34-generic (7.0.0-34.34~24.04.1) Broken kernel: 7.0.0-38-generic (7.0.0-38.38~24.04.4) On 7.0.0-34, the internal speakers work correctly. The kernel log shows: ALC287: picked fixup for alias SSID 17aa:3855 DSP1: cirrus/cs35l41-dsp1-spk-prot-17aa3855.wmfw Firmware Loaded - Type: spk-prot, Gain: 17 CS35L41 Bound - SSID: 17aa3855 Both CS35L41 amplifiers are successfully bound to the Realtek HDA codec. On 7.0.0-38, the internal speakers produce no sound, although the 3.5 mm headphone output works. The kernel log instead shows: ALC287: picked fixup for PCI SSID 17aa:3811 There are no corresponding DSP firmware loading or CS35L41 component binding messages. The PCI audio controller subsystem ID is 17aa:3811, while the Realtek ALC287 codec subsystem ID is 17aa:3855. PipeWire routes audio to the internal analog output, and the ALSA speaker DAC and pin appear correctly configured. Forcing both CS35L41 devices into the active runtime power state does not restore sound. This appears to be a regression in HDA fixup selection or amplifier component binding between these two Ubuntu kernel builds. I can reliably restore speaker audio by booting 7.0.0-34-generic. I have not yet tested the snd-hda-intel model=17aa:3855,17aa:3855 workaround on 7.0.0-38. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2163143 Title: [Lenovo Legion 7 16ITHg6 82K6, Realtek ALC287 + 2x CS35L41] Regression: internal speakers silent since 7.0.0-27; new PCI SSID quirk 17aa:3811 shadows codec SSID quirk 17aa:3855 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2163143/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
