Note to all those affected, that this issue has now been resolved for me with
Ubuntu 26.04 receiving the 7.0.0-38.38 kernel update:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/resolute/amd64/linux-image-virtual/7.0.0-38.38

It includes the "drm/i915/mtl+: Enable PPS beforePLL" fix backported.

I've successfully tested the condition, recovering without any incident
from two separate multi-hour sleeps without any sign of the errors
previously reported.

I can't verify, but a similar update to 24.04 was reportedly done, so
affected systems on it likely also have the fix.
