Public bug reported:
phpunit 13.2.6+ds-1 in stonking-proposed is blocked by autopkgtest
regressions in several reverse dependencies. In the three packages
below, every test passes ("OK, but there were issues!"), but phpunit
exits 1 because of issues that the default or upstream configuration
treats as failures:
* php-phpseclib3 3.0.49-1ubuntu1 (amd64, amd64v3, arm64, ppc64el): 19 tests
use #[RequiresPhpunit('< 10')]. PHPUnit 13.2 reports "Version requirement "<
10" ... is incomplete, expected a version that consists of major, minor, and
patch level" as a PHPUnit warning, and failOnPhpunitWarning defaults to true.
* php-matomo-doctrine-cache 1.10.4-2 (regression on amd64v3, same failure on
the other architectures): same PHPUnit warning for RequiresPhpExtension
constraints such as '>=2.3' and '>= 3' (193 warnings).
* php-zend-stdlib 3.21.0-1 (amd64, amd64v3, arm64, ppc64el): the upstream
phpunit.xml.dist sets failOnDeprecation="true". On PHP 8.5 the test suite
triggers "Using null as an array offset is deprecated"
(test/ArrayUtilsTest.php). PHPUnit 13.2 no longer misclassifies these
first-party deprecations as indirect (upstream #6854), so the run now fails.
The test passes in Debian, which still runs PHP 8.4.
Debian: php-matomo-doctrine-cache has #1138675 (serious, removed from
testing). There is no Debian bug for php-phpseclib3 or php-zend-stdlib.
No upstream fixes found (phpseclib 3.0.57 still uses '< 10'; laminas-
stdlib 3.21.0 is the latest release).
[ Fix ]
* php-phpseclib3 3.0.49-1ubuntu2:
d/p/fix-incomplete-phpunit-version-requirement.patch changes RequiresPhpunit('<
10') to '< 10.0.0'. This is the proper fix and can be sent upstream.
* php-zend-stdlib 3.21.0-1ubuntu1: run phpunit with
--do-not-fail-on-deprecation in d/t/control.
* php-matomo-doctrine-cache 1.10.4-2ubuntu1: run phpunit with
--do-not-fail-on-phpunit-warning in d/t/phpunit.
[ Test Plan ]
In a stonking-proposed container, the autopkgtest of each updated package
passes with both phpunit 13.2.6+ds-1 (proposed) and 13.0.0-2ubuntu6 (release).
The unmodified packages fail with 13.2.6 as described above.
The other two remaining phpunit blockers, php-doctrine-common and php-
zend-eventmanager, have no reverse dependencies or build-dependencies in
stonking. Debian has removed both from testing (#1136344, #1135711
"Useless in Debian"), so removing them from stonking is suggested rather
than patching them.
