Public bug reported: Hardware: ASUS Vivobook S 16 M3607HA (AMD Ryzen AI) DMI sys_vendor: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. DMI product_name: ASUS Vivobook S 16 M3607HA_M3607HA DMI board_name: M3607HA BIOS: M3607HA.317 (03/27/2026) - also reproduced on M3607HA.313 OS: Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS, kernel 7.0.0-34-generic, UPower 1.91.1
Problem: While running on battery (ADP0/online = 0), /sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/status keeps flipping between "Discharging" and "Not charging" (and sometimes "Full" when capacity is high). With AC offline, "Not charging"/"Full" is an impossible state per the power-supply class ABI. Measurement: polling BAT0/status every 200 ms for 15 minutes on battery gave 584 transitions (292 to "Discharging", 292 to "Not charging"), while ADP0/online stayed 0 the whole time and CAPACITY/CURRENT_NOW kept reporting normal discharge. Downstream effect: UPower reports state changes, and gnome-settings-daemon (gsd-power) plays the power-plug / power-unplug sounds every 30-120 seconds while on battery. Updating the BIOS from 313 to 317 did not fix it. Steps to reproduce: 1. Unplug the AC adapter. 2. Run: for i in $(seq 20); do cat /sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/status; sleep 1; done | sort | uniq -c 3. Both "Discharging" and "Not charging" appear. Related upstream: - Same issue on ASUS Vivobook 18 M1807HA: https://ratatoskr.run/linux-acpi/2026/05/8995338 - Proposed quirk "[PATCH] ACPI: battery: Add ASUS Vivobook 18 M1807HA status quirk" (2026-05-24) only matches DMI_PRODUCT_NAME "ASUS Vivobook 18 M1807HA": https://ratatoskr.run/linux-acpi/2026/05/17024158 The M3607HA shows the same behaviour, so the quirk should also cover it (or be generalised, e.g. treat "Not charging"/"Full" as "Discharging" whenever no AC supply is online).
