Public bug reported: On a GeForce GTX 770M (Kepler) with Xubuntu 24.04:
- Apt nvidia-driver-470 / DKMS fails to build cleanly on current 6.8 kernels. - Official NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-470.256.02.run plus community mainline patches (https://github.com/joanbm/nvidia-470xx-linux-mainline) built and ran on 6.8.0-146-generic. - Ubuntu Pro Livepatch / ESM kernel churn fights this setup; we detached Pro on that box and stayed on stock updates, then re-ran the patched install after the kernel bump. - Expect to rebuild after future kernel updates (./install from that repo, or equivalent). Happy to share exact steps/logs if useful for Kepler users still on Noble. ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-470 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2169103 Title: Kepler 470 + UbunKtu 24.04 / kernel 6.8 (Xubuntu) — what worked To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-470/+bug/2169103/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
