Ensure that /etc/nsswitch.conf has "systemd" in the list of services,
such as like this:
passwd: files systemd sss
group: files systemd sss
shadow: files systemd sss
gshadow: files systemd
** Changed in: gdm3 (Ubuntu)
Status: New => Invalid
** Changed in: gdm3 (Ubuntu)
Status: Invalid => Incomplete
