Note that you do not need to mess around disabling "Gnome services" in the Xfce settings - the whole reason this broke is because those "services" (gnome-keyring) no longer include an ssh agent, so there is no conflict between those and gcr. You also don't need to change anything in the "Application Autostart" panel.
