In addition to display freezes, minor channel/modeset synchronization glitches on X11 are causing input event dropping where window controls require 2 to 3 clicks to register. Diagnostics & Configuration Details: 1. *Window Focus Settings:* System window focus behavior is configured via gsettings to focus-mode 'click', auto-raise false, and focus-new-windows 'strict'. 2. *Hardware / Driver Isolation:* Running xev -event button confirms that ButtonPress and ButtonRelease events reach the X server immediately on the very first physical click. This rules out mouse switch hardware degradation or libinput polling drops. 3. *Orphaned Render Layers:* Clicks are being swallowed by transparent window frames/hitboxes retained in mutter/xorg-server when display synchronization slips. 4. *Workaround:* Pressing Alt + F2, typing r, and pressing Enter to restart GNOME Shell immediately clears the orphaned hitboxes and restores normal single-click responsiveness without requiring a full reboot or session restart.
