Ubuntu 22.04 LTS and 24.04 LTS have triple buffering as a patch, before it landed upstream in Mutter 48.0. It's likely there were some fixes still missing in those older releases but I have not done a deep audit to find out what they would be because there have been no significant reports of issues like this one for years.
