Confirmed; I'm also seeing this on a Dell Inspiron 1420 running latest
Hardy with Compiz turned on.

Also, it's not just yelp (although that reproduces the issue most
reliably), but can occur on alt-tabbing between gnome terminal windows,
opening new terminals, on tooltips, etc. although these cases seem more
intermittent and harder to reproduce.
