Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati
I'm using Ubuntu Dapper 6.06.2 LTS with latest updates. I have a Radeon 7000 on a Pentium 4 2.8Ghz CPU. When I start up my X server, I get some corruption on screen, just in the left edge, about 20 pixel wide. I was trying to use it at 1440x900, 24 bit color. Also, screen gets some strange green color. I have not observed this corruption in a Debian Stable system, installed in the same hardware (we have many computers). It's not the hardware, since it works on Windows. I have also tried my screen in another computer, it's Ok. I has to have something to do with the driver, which has been fixed in Debian. I have to put some lower resolution, then everything works fine, but not at maximum screen resolution (1440x900). I don't change refresh rate, it's always at 55-60Hz. I have the following monitor: Hanns-G HW173A (TFT, 1440x900 maximum) I have the following hardware (lspci): 0000:00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation 82865G/PE/P DRAM Controller/Host-Hub Interface (rev 02) 0000:00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82865G/PE/P PCI to AGP Controller (rev 02) 0000:00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) USB UHCI Controller #1 (rev 02) 0000:00:1d.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) USB UHCI Controller #2 (rev 02) 0000:00:1d.2 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) USB UHCI Controller #3 (rev 02) 0000:00:1d.3 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) USB UHCI Controller #4 (rev 02) 0000:00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) USB2 EHCI Controller (rev 02) 0000:00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 PCI Bridge (rev c2) 0000:00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) LPC Interface Bridge (rev 02) 0000:00:1f.2 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82801EB (ICH5) SATA Controller (rev 02) 0000:00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) SMBus Controller (rev 02) 0000:00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 02) 0000:01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon RV100 QY [Radeon 7000/VE] 0000:02:03.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd.
