My Thunderbird setup includes a Yahoo account that requires OAuth 2.0
authentication. Everything was working fine a week ago.
Today, Thunderbird apparently initiated an OAuth2 token renewal or
something like that.
A firefox window poppep up, asking for my Yahoo identifier/password. I
complete authentication, and then another window popped up—possibly
related to the GNOME Center—stating: "No apps installed that can open
[garbage chars]. You can find more app in Centre d'applications»
I suspect the system failed to redirect the OAuth2 API response to
Thunderbird.
FWIW, the URL sent to Firefox looks like this:
https://login.yahoo.com/account/challenge/password?src=oauth&client_id=[..]&done=https%3A%2F%2Fapi.login.yahoo.com%2Foauth2%2Fauthorize%3F.scrumb%3D0%26client_id%[...]code_challenge%3D[...]%26code_challenge_method%3D[...]%3Dnet.thunderbird%253A%252F%252Foauth%252Fyahoo%26response_type%3Dcode%26scope%3Dmail-[...]&redirect_uri=net.thunderbird%3A%2F%2Foauth%2Fyahoo&authMechanism=primary&[...]
The net.thunderbird protocol may not be registered correctly ?
Please note this, from https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/tb-oauth:
Prior to Thunderbird 153, the OAuth dialogues are presented in a tab inside
Thunderbird. Versions 153 and higher display the OAuth dialogues externally in
your system’s default web browser (Firefox, Chrome, etc.) instead.
