I've verified the fix. I had already added the environment variable to the Ardour launcher, so I had to first remove the user specific launcher changes with
rm ~/.local/share/applications/ardour.desktop and then install ardour/resolute-proposed. I believe this is by design that user specific launcher settings are not restored to defaults by package upgrades.
