Public bug reported:
Title:
[HUAWEI NbF-XX] s2idle suspend cannot resume on kernel 7.0.0-28-generic
(regression from 6.17 HWE kernel)
Description:
On Ubuntu 24.04 LTS with the 6.17.0-35-generic HWE kernel, s2idle
suspend/resume worked correctly on this machine (journal shows many
successful "PM: suspend entry (s2idle)" / "PM: suspend exit" cycles).
After upgrading to Ubuntu 26.04 LTS (kernel 7.0.0-28-generic), the
system enters suspend but cannot be resumed:
- Keyboard (USB 2.4GHz wireless receiver) does not wake it
- A short power button press does not wake it
- Had to force power off to recover; no "PM: suspend exit" ever
appears in the journal after the hang
Workaround found:
- "echo deep > /sys/power/mem_sleep" (S3) allows resume via power
button, but it requires pressing the power button multiple times,
which is abnormal
- USB device wakeup (power/wakeup) is disabled for all USB devices
after the upgrade; it was not an issue before
Hardware:
- HUAWEI NbF-XX (M1010), BIOS 3.07
- 12th Gen Intel Core i5-1240P
- Firmware advertises S0/S3/S4/S5; kernel logs "Low-power S0 idle
used by default for system suspend"
- nvme 0000:01:00.0 uses "platform quirk: setting simple suspend"
Key log excerpts (failed boot, suspend at 04:35:12, never resumed):
ACPI: PM: (supports S0 S3 S4 S5)
Low-power S0 idle used by default for system suspend
nvme 0000:01:00.0: platform quirk: setting simple suspend
systemd-logind[1461]: The system will suspend now!
(no PM: suspend exit afterwards; forced power off required)
Working baseline (Ubuntu 24.04, kernel 6.17.0-35-generic, June 2026):
PM: suspend entry (s2idle)
PM: suspend exit
(many successful cycles)
Conclusion: s2idle resume path regressed between kernel 6.17 and 7.0
on this platform.
