This is probably a duplicate of LP#2161309, [1] so could you follow the steps in comment #4 and #10 of that bug to confirm if it is indeed the same cause? A patch has already been sent for review to the mailing list concerning that bug, so this will help us understand if more work is needed to get the backlight working again for your laptop. Thanks!
