Description:
Upgrading to the 7.0.0-28-generic kernel breaks the built-in 'tg3' ethernet
driver on a legacy Dell Studio XPS 8100. The device fails to initialize network
interfaces entirely upon boot. Rolling back to kernel 6.17 immediately fixes
the issue and restores wired ethernet.

- Chipset: Broadcom Inc. NetLink BCM57780 Gigabit Ethernet PCIe [14e4:1692]

- Working Driver (on 6.17): tg3
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot into linux-image-7.0.0-28-generic.
2. Check network interface status via 'ip link show' (no ethernet interfaces
are present or active).
3. Attempting 'sudo modprobe tg3' fails to initialize the network interface or
throws errors in dmesg.
