Thanks for taking the time to report a bug and helping to improve
Ubuntu.
I see you've found a workaround in using the linux-oem kernel. If you do
still want to pursue getting iwlwifi to work correctly with the linux-
generic kernel, please try reverting to the linux-generic kernel,
installing the `linux-modules-iwlwifi-generic` package, and sharing the
dmesg log you see if the firmware fails to load, or if you see
mismatched symbol errors.
