Hello,
I believe there may be a packaging issue with jack_capture in Xubuntu
26.04.
System:
Xubuntu 26.04
jack_capture 0.9.73-5
libsndfile 1.2.2-4
I initially noticed that recordings created with jack_capture were much
larger than expected, which led me to investigate the output format
handling.
Some observations:
The command
jack_capture --print-formats
produces no output at all.
When running
pw-jack jack_capture -f ogg
I get:
Warning. Could not set higher priority for a SCHED_OTHER process using
setpriority().
Warning, the format "wav" is not supported. Using ogg instead.
Recording to "jack_capture_01.ogg". Press <Return> or <Ctrl-C> to stop.
This message appears inconsistent because I explicitly requested OGG
output, yet the warning refers to WAV not being supported.
The upstream developer of jack_capture suggested that an empty output from
jack_capture --print-formats
could indicate that something went wrong during compilation or
packaging, possibly involving format detection or libsndfile
integration.
I am reporting this because the behavior appears abnormal and may
indicate a packaging or build issue in the Ubuntu/Xubuntu package.
