Public bug reported:

Hello,

I am experiencing a critical issue with the integrated Bluetooth chip on
the Raspberry Pi 5 running Ubuntu.

The system completely fails to output high-quality stereo audio (A2DP
profile) for ANY Bluetooth headset connected to it. When any headphone
is paired, the audio profile either gets stuck in low-quality Handsfree
(HFP/HSP) mode, or the A2DP profile fails to initialize completely,
resulting in constant stuttering or no sound at all.

Troubleshooting steps and findings:
1. This is NOT a device-specific issue. It happens with every single Bluetooth
headset/headphone tested.
2. The issue does NOT happen when using an external USB Bluetooth dongle on the
same Raspberry Pi 5. The external USB adapter works flawlessly in A2DP stereo
mode with all headsets.
3. The headsets work perfectly on other operating systems and devices.

This points to a general firmware/driver optimization issue between the
Broadcom integrated chip and the Ubuntu/PipeWire audio stack on the
ARM64 architecture for the Pi 5.

Logs and system info have been attached automatically by the ubuntu-bug
tool.

Thank you.
