Testing it here, HDR mode is saved in ~/.config/monitors.xml rather
cryptically as:
<colormode>bt2100</colormode>
so please attach a copy of your ~/.config/monitors.xml
Next time the problem happens, please also run:
journalctl -b0 > journal.txt
and attach the resulting text file here.
