Thanks for reporting this.

To move forward I need a bit of diagnostic output from the next time the
failure happens.

First, try trashing the file from the command line using this command
(replace the path with the actual file or folder that won't trash):

  G_MESSAGES_DEBUG=all gio trash /path/to/file-that-fails 2>&1

If the failure is happening in Thunar's UI layer, this command may
succeed even when Thunar doesn't — and that itself tells us a lot. If it
also fails, you'll see an error message in the output that points
directly at the cause. Either way, please paste the full output.

Then, right after a failed trash attempt in Thunar, run this and paste
whatever it shows:

  journalctl --no-pager | grep -iE "thunar|gvfs|trash"

Those two together should tell us whether the problem is inside Thunar
or deeper in the underlying trash service. Much appreciated!
