Please revisit this "won't fix" decision. The build-essential package is required by many end user packages like libdvd-pkg, dkms etc, so this is not just when building from source. There are still many critical bugs in uutils (like https://github.com/uutils/coreutils/issues/11469 that I found about today) which makes it untenable to use it in many deployments, while other users unaware of such issues may get hit by such open issues breaking the system in unpredictable ways.
