Hello Timo, I have now tried this in Hardy alpha3 live CD, hold down
shift key for 8 secs...xaccess dialog appears "enable slow keys"
feature? (there is no system bell bleep) Clicked to disable this slow
keys and not show the dialog again, this worked fine..holding down the
shift key for more than 10 secs has no effect.

Back to Gutsy I know experimentally change -> System
Settings.."Accessibility".."Modifier Keys" tab.."Use KDE system
notification....etc" selected. "Keyboard filters" tab "Use slow keys"
selected

Hold down shift for 8 secs, system bell beeps but keys still work fine

Change to "Keyboard filters" tab "Use slow keys" deselected
Hold down for 8 secs, system bell beeps, keys fail (actually all keys make a
system bell beep) BUT shift key still notifies KDE system with "accessibility"
bleep so the keyboard/xserver is still working.

By experiment, they way to clear the fault is to use the procedure:- "Use slow
keys" selected, apply, deselected apply again, keys work again!!
Or "Keyboard filters" tab "Use slow keys" selected, hold down shift key for 8
secs, and keys work again.

So in conclusion it seems that the problem is not x server/xorg related,
but that somehow the xaccess feature "slow keys" is misconfigured or
broken. I have never seen the xaccess dialog in Fiesty or Gutsy. Any
ideas how to fix it? If you need any further info/data or tests please
let me know.

Just found these references:-

So I suspect this is a bug that has been fixed in Hardy.
