Have you checked whether the problem is really caused by CUPS? Do the
command line frontends of CUPS work (lpr, lpstat, ...)? Does the web
interface of CUPS work (http://localhost:631/)? Do other applications
with CUPS-based printuing dialogs work (OpenOffice.org, Firefox,
Thunderbird, Other GNOME/GTK apps, KDE apps, ...)? Can you print from
other Linux/CUPS-based machines in your network to the printers on your
local machine?
