Public bug reported:
Problem with gnome-text-editor version 46.3 on ubuntu 24.04.2 x64 (Noble
Numbat).
I upgraded the computer (in place upgrades) from ubuntu desktop 20.04
LTS > 22.04 LTS > 24.04.2 LTS.
The desktop computer has an nvida graphics card and I think wayland is
using the version 470 of the nvidia driver.
After the inplace os upgrades ended, the old reliable gedit was gone and
instead I have gnome-text-editor .
I pinned gnome-text-editor to the dash and start gnome-text-editor from
the dash.
But gnome-text-editor has two obvious problems that make it unuseable
viz:
(1) specifically when I open a plain ascii text file a few hundreds of
lines long , after a couple of seconds the app window goes blank (even
if no key is pressed), and can be restored by scrolling up/down. But I
need to view the text without it going blank!
(2) Some of the dialog-boxes (popup windows) have text that is not readable or
is blank. For example, when
I choose Menu (hamburger menu) > Preferences, the initial screen is mostly
blank with some boxes indicating controls. If I scroll the slider on
right-hand-side of popup window then some text becomes visible, but not all, so
some controls are "invisible" and remain thus.
Any suggestions for how to resolve this?
