Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus
Nautilus is installed with audio file preview enabled by default. However, this function doesn't work for MP3 which makes the function appear broken. There is no mention anywhere that for this to work, mpg123 needs to be installed. Why not use a feedback system that would give the right information to the user. For example, the audio preview could be disabled by default, and when the user specfically enables it, then ogg tools and mpg123 at least get installed automatically (with proper message about the legality obviously). This could be facilitated if nautilus was using gstreamer. This way, it might be possible to use the same system as in totem to automatically install missing codecs? ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Nautilus cannot preview MP3 files unless mpg123 is installed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/182082 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
