It might have been OK because usually shorter is better. Shorter cables
have less signal degradation and maintain higher bandwidth more
reliably.

I recently experimented with a 4K@240Hz monitor and found [a very short
cable](https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0D815GV9K) was able to maintain a
stable high quality signal.
