Public bug reported: tzdata=2024b-5 has stopped generating the /etc/timezone file.
The canonical path to get the local timezone in systemd systems is /etc/localtime, which is a symlink to the corresponding tzdata file in /usr/share/zoneinfo This is breaking ubuntu-report's ability to collect the user timezone, and causes a FTBFS issue: https://launchpadlibrarian.net/783617521/buildlog_ubuntu-plucky- amd64.ubuntu-report_1.7.3ubuntu2_BUILDING.txt.gz ** Affects: ubuntu-report (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium Assignee: Alessandro Astone (aleasto) Status: In Progress ** Changed in: ubuntu-report (Ubuntu) Status: New => In Progress ** Changed in: ubuntu-report (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: ubuntu-report (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Alessandro Astone (aleasto) ** Changed in: ubuntu-report (Ubuntu) Milestone: None => ubuntu-25.04 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2104682 Title: ubuntu-report reads timezone from deprecated /etc/timezone To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-report/+bug/2104682/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
