Hi Marcos, The purpose of the python3-boto3 dependency is to be able to upload the sos to an S3 endpoint. We can have various users whether it's cloud or non-cloud uploading to an S3 endpoint can still be valid. This was the reason for having it in Recommends.
The Suggests doesn't actually give you anything other than the fact it notifies you about the package. Below is a comment that was made to me, when I originally added it to Suggests > This is also pretty pointless as nothing installs package Suggests: by default and users almost never look at this. Also adding it to Suggests, it will never actually install it on any platform whether it is needed or not. The only way to then to know if it is needed is via the error messages that sos will bring through. ** Changed in: sos (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Changed in: sos (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Wishlist -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2104161 Title: Change python3-boto3 to suggests if possible To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sos/+bug/2104161/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
