** Description changed: Shipping a stable and reliable Qt 6 stack is critical for the success of Lubuntu, Kubuntu, and Ubuntu Studio. We would like to ship Qt 6.8.3 in Ubuntu 25.04, which will provide an extra level of polish for our users. Qt's release schedules surprisingly align with Ubuntu's: - https://wiki.qt.io/Qt_6.8_Release - targeted for 25.04 - https://wiki.qt.io/Qt_6.9_Release - targeted for 25.10 - https://wiki.qt.io/Qt_6.10_Release - targeted for 26.04 LTS 6.8.3 is expected to maintain complete API and ABI compatibility, as is tradition with patch releases. This being said, we bump virtual packages provided by some of the private Qt library packages. Packages depending on version 6.8.2 of that require a no-change rebuild. This ensures the entire stack can become a (notest) candidate in a single publisher run. This does not break any of the freezes, perhaps with the exception of Beta Freeze. This was communicated early and often, and if an exception is required, consider this a request to grant one.
