Thanks for reporting. The wpasupplicant source package (https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wpasupplicant) seems to have been removed from Ubuntu years ago. The wpasupplication package is not offered by the wpa source package (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wpa). And there's already an upgrade request there. Could you take a look if this will be covered by bug 2094785?
