I tried to install a package with the
nvidia-340_340.108-4ppanoble9.2_amd64.deb controller on Linux Mint 22.1
XFCE because it is for noble. Everything went well, the black screen
remained after the restart and it was not even possible to start tty1,
tty2 ...

Then in Recovery Mode I was looking for logs (/var/log/Xorg.0.log,
xsession-errors), but there was no error through the MC program.

I created a simple xorg.conf for nvidia driver in /etc/X11. Then I
managed to get to tty1 and enter startx. It wrote something in the sense
that the controller was compiled for the older version of xserver.

But Black Screen won. Similarly, I tried an older Linux Mint 22 XFCE
(Ubuntu Noble), but it was not a success.

So can we suspect a core failure or too "new" xserver towards this
driver?

Older versions of the driver work on LM 21.x (Jammy).
