We seem to be experiencing a similar problem. We have two Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS servers running with Samba--fresh installations, no upgrading. The physical memory is consumed over time (about 12+ hours) until almost 100%. Although the CPU approached 100% utilization on this same server, it did have the same behavior on the other. Our servers with Ubuntu 22.04 LTS run without this problem.
NOTE: not sure if it's related... on the Ubuntu 24.04 servers /usr/libexec/samba/rpcd_lsad spawns A LOT of processes. Maxes out at 41 (probably a default threshold setting). If I stop or restart winbind, the memory utilization resolves and settles down to about 10%. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2080070 Title: rpcd_spoolss memoryleak and high cpu-usage?
