To settle all confusion/questions, I simply tried grub (2.06-2ubuntu7.2) and it wasn't able to recognize either a thin-lvm partition nor a thick lvm partition. I did
set root='lvmid/xxx/yyy' ls / It reported "no server specified" for the thin-lvm and "unknown filesystem" for the snapshot. note that grub> ls lists all but the snapshot and thin filesystems. (I have no other 'exotic' filesystem) I feel I have to respectfully suggest #19 as the better solution (YMMV) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1987679 Title: os-prober leaves filesystems (lvm-thin, lvm snap) mounted To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/os-prober/+bug/1987679/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
