Indeed Ubuntu 18.04 (bionic) reached end-of-standard-support on May 31, 2023, which makes this a "Won't Fix". (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases)
While the correct kernel graphics driver is loaded (gma500 / gma500_gfx), it looks like the Xorg driver for accelerated graphics support only existed in Ubuntu 8.04 (yes from 2008): https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-psb So you should not expect any working graphics driver for GMA500. But you should be able to use a 32-bit Linux installation with software-rendered graphics just fine. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => xorg-server (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2092823 Title: problems of gma500 graphics driver installation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/2092823/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
