@mikosenigma
I am not an expert, Linux distributions have become some complex that I do not
understand them anymore.
What I can say is that:

1) I do not need "sudo" to run the "amixer" command (but it works with
sudo too)

2) amixer gives me exactly the same output, so it should not be a
problem.

3) you should also check where your distribution sends the sound.
I my case (using Ubuntu-MATE), the software is "mate-volume-control", you may
have another software for that.

In that application, I find:
- a slider for the volume (set 100%)
- a box for "mute" (uncheck)
- a tab called "Hardware"
    * click on "ACP/ACP3X/ACP6x Audio Coprocessor" to configure it
    * select "Stereo Output + Stereo Output" (it does not work for me if I
select "Pro Audio" here)
    * click on "Test loudspeakers": I get two buttons ("Front Left" and "Front
Right"), clicking on them I can hear "Front left" and "Front right", from the
left or the right loudspeaker. Listen carefully: initially it was so low that I
could barely hear it in perfect silence (and my hear is good).
- a tab called "Output":
    * select "ACP/ACP3X/ACP6x Audio Coprocessor Stereo" as the peripheral for
sound output
    * for this peripheral, choose the connector "Speakers". If the connector is
"Headphones", the loudspeakers do not work

After that (or equivalent settings in your system), retry the same
"amixer" command to increase the volume.

If it does not work, I cannot help you more, because I just don't have
enough knowledge about the sound systems in Linux.

Remark: among other Ubuntu packets, I have:
- alsa-base
- alsa-topology-conf
- alsa-ucm-conf
- alsa-utils
- pulseaudio
- pulseaudio-utils
- qasconfig
- pipewire
- pipewire-bin
- pipewire-pulse
I am not sure that this makes sense or is needed, but just in case, since there
are several possible sound architectures in Linux. Possibly Pipewire is not
useful, but since it works I tend not to touch anything.
