Thank you for your input and sorry for my outbreak. It is still unclear for me why Ubuntu would flag update-manager for removal, though. I think essential packages should never be flagged for removal. How has that anything to do with Pipewire. I will purge pipewire then. It's always a bit of a problem when Ubuntu ages and some packages become ever more outdated. At some point it is necessary to upgrade certain components to get the required functions.
