Actually I forgot the main thing about ldmtool: since this tool is required to mount LDM partitions, it must be run before fstab is examined. I.e. it needs to be run on boot. Currently it's on full manual, which requires users to manually add the "ldmtool create all" step somewhere in the boot sequence - this is a typical advice found on google results for using dynamic disks.
But that's ugly. Things need to "just work" and we can do that quite easily. That's another argument for adding ldmtool to initrd - to make mounting such partitions possible in the same way as any ordinary GPT/MBR partitions. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2090878 Title: ldmtool is not included into initrd to allow booting from dynamic disks To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libldm/+bug/2090878/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
