It'd help to have a full backtrace to be sure, but I found this upstream bug that seems likely to match:
https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15599 That bug has patches for 4.19 and 4.20. Essentially, the fix checks for an uninitialized GPO security_descriptor and bails out of marshalling to avoid the crash. I've verified that our 2:4.20.4+dfsg-1ubuntu1 in oracular and plucky already carry this fix, but noble does not. The functionality appears to be missing from jammy, and given that upstream fixed only 4.19 and 4.20, am gathering the fix is not relevant there. ** Bug watch added: Samba Bugzilla #15599 https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15599 ** Changed in: samba (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Triaged ** Also affects: samba via https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15599 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Tags added: server-todo ** Also affects: samba (Ubuntu Noble) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: samba (Ubuntu Oracular) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: samba (Ubuntu Plucky) Importance: Undecided Status: Triaged ** Changed in: samba (Ubuntu Oracular) Status: New => Triaged ** Changed in: samba (Ubuntu Noble) Status: New => Triaged ** Changed in: samba (Ubuntu Plucky) Status: Triaged => Fix Released ** Changed in: samba (Ubuntu Oracular) Status: Triaged => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2078854 Title: samba-gpupdate drops segmentation fault To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/samba/+bug/2078854/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
