Public bug reported:

When trying to play a movie in digikam with the nvidia driver open, the movie
will not play since upgrading to 24.10.
(Specifically, the sound will play but there's no picture.)

There is an error message when digikam is started frome the console:
[hevc_cuvid @ 0x603210bd4280] Codec hevc_cuvid is not supported.

Could it be that digikam was compiled with Nvidia hardware decoding
enabled, but ffmpeg was not?

I have a laptop with nvidia prime setup; when I disable the nvidia card
completely and use just the onboard intel graphics, movie playback works fine.

Currently installed nvidia driver: nvidia-driver-560-open
The display server (X11 or wayland) makes no difference.

Required information:
lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 24.10
Release: 24.10

apt-cache policy digikam
digikam:
  Installed: 4:8.4.0-3ubuntu2
  Candidate: 4:8.4.0-3ubuntu2
  Version table:
 *** 4:8.4.0-3ubuntu2 500
        500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu oracular/universe amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Expected: Movie playback works whether I use the nvidia or intel card

What happened: Movie playback only works with the nvidia card completely
disabled (both performance and ondemand prime modes make it fail).

** Affects: digikam (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
