Yes, I disabled the "Security Chip" there - I guess it is the same as 
the "TTL Chip" you mention - and the problems have disappeared. Thanks a 
lot.
Remains the question of what the security or TPM chip does for Linux. So 
far I only found references to Windows. As I do not use a Windows boot 
option, I will try the disabled setting.
