Public bug reported:

To avoid the problem of a black screen of death interupting the boot process
permanently in kernel 6.8.0-38 one can edit grub to replace "quiet splash" with
"amd_iommu=off" to solve the problem.
Doing this in 6.8.0.47 has no effect and user is stuck with black screen of
death during boot.

This problem has been experienced by many since June 2024, some 4 months
ago and is unresolved.
