Actually this message might be relevant:

Although it's in the wrong place. I ignored it because it's prefixed in
a way that sounds like it's complaining about a secondary GPU that
doesn't exist. Actually there's only one GPU and the last part of the
message would explain why nothing appears on screen, but only if it was
relating to the primary GPU.
