My setup is a little different so I'm struggling to reproduce exactly the same issue.
On my machine I do see nouveau crash in the kernel if I plug in a Thunderbolt eGPU with a monitor attached. That freezes the shell, but may not be the same freeze as yours. I also wonder if a monitor is relevant to your test case and whether it's just the Thunderbolt storage triggering your freeze. So please: 1. Check the kernel log for nouveau crashes; and 2. Test without the monitor. Does connecting just the Thunderbolt storage reproduce the freeze? ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Assignee: Daniel van Vugt (vanvugt) => (unassigned) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2084015 Title: gnome-shell has no response when plug-in unauthorized thunderbolt devices To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/oem-priority/+bug/2084015/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
