Yesterday the 6.8.0-45-generic kernel image got automatically installed
during the updates. Unfortunately the system fails to boot with that
image, which is now reported as [bug
2082946](https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/2082946).

Regarding the NetworkManager issue, it seems to be related to sleep mode
somehow. Either it is already stopped when I pass the lock screen or it
stops within minutes of returning from sleep mode. Could sleep be
messing up with some process?
