Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 24.04

I developed a bash script that works like Bing wallpapers. I use the
following pair of commands to set my background:

/usr/bin/gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background picture-options 'stretched'
/usr/bin/gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background picture-uri $URI

The commands work perfectly in the default theme, when I switch to the dark
theme, the new image cannot be set (i.e., there's no change in the background).
It looks like it's being set then overwritten by the old background. This
happens only in the dark theme.
