Just a quick update for any other poor soul who is stuck with this
issue, I managed to get a workaround to work following the instructions
posted in this comment on the thread on the Arch forum
(https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1933609#p1933609) which
itself came from reading conversation on lkml with greg k-h reporting
the issue
(https://lkml.kernel.org/lkml/20201003160713.ga1512...@kroah.com/T/).

So what I needed to do was sudoedit
`/var/lib/bluetooth/<MAC>/<MAC>/info` and remove the 2 lines:

```
[IdentityResolvingKey]
Key=CDF...
```

AND then after removing you must restart bluetoothd: `sudo systemctl
restart bluetooth`

Following that, suspending and resuming the laptop, the mouse stays
connected after resume.
